Whether its a not, humid summer day, or cold, frigid winter night, its your next-to-skin layer fabric that keeps you comfortable and dry. Weve come a long way since the days of wool and cotton. Modern fabrics are designed to pull body moisture away from the skin to the fabric surface where it evaporates, keeping you cool or warm, and most importantly, dry! Better evaporation means you waste less energy warming or cooling your body. That increases your performance and endurance when you run, hike, ski or sleep! From lightweight fabrics for running singlets, mid-weight for cycling and hiking jerseys, to heavy weights for all those cold winter activities they are all here to choose from! In active sportswear, the lining is a very important part of the Body Climate you want to achieve. If you want to be warm and dry, you do not want a lining that absorbs moisture. The ideal lining is one that transmits the moisture to the outer shell ASAP. In other words, a "wicking lining". A "wicking lining" will quickly transfer the moisture from your skin or the air inside your jacket to the outer layer. The moisture then diffuses on the fabric surface to enhance evaporation. Cotton does not "wick" in this sense. It sucks up the moisture and then keeps it against you until you are good and cold! See why we dont recommend it for any sportswear linings? Remember... moisture is the enemy!
