Afraid To Sew With Lycra?
Don’t be! It’s easy!
1. Start with good fabric – don’t waste your precious time with poor quality stretch fabrics. It’s not a savings if you can’t or won’t wear it!
2. Use a new Teflon-coated stretch needle and polyester thread. Change the needle often.
3. Stretch the fabric as you sew. Practice a bit to get the “sweet spot”.You want the fabric to completely relax after you’ve finished sewing the seam.
4. If your machine doesn’t have a stretch stitch, use a small zig-zag. Stretch the seam as you sew.Then, pull on it to see if there is enough thread in the seam so it won’t break. If need be, re-stitch the seam.
