HOW TO Lycra® Binding Instructions
Pre-Sewing Steps
- Trim seam allowance, if required, on the edge to be bound.
- Measure the length of the edge and cut Lycra® binding approximately 80% of the length. Adjust according to preference.
- For cuffs and continuous openings, stitch the ends of the binding together to form a loop, then pin and sew to garment.
- Divide fleece and binding into four equal parts and mark.
- While sewing, stretch the binding to insure stretch while wearing. Pin lots at all stages – especially important for beginners!
Step 1: Cross section of fleece shown with right side down. Working from wrong side, stitch binding to fleece at 6mm (1/4”).
Step 2: Turn fleece over to right side and tuck under edge of binding on the right side.
Step 3: Edge-stitch through all layers – Fleece with binding complete.
