#502 - Marmot Mitts

This two piece mitt pattern features an inner fleece mitten that can be worn alone or with a protective outer shell for added warmth and waterproofness to keep hands dry. Deep cuffs on the inner mitt give extra warmth.

SUGGESTED MATERIALS

A high quality polyester fleece such as Polartec® 200 or 300 for inner mitt.

A water repellant or water proof fabric for outer shell. A layer of slip proof fabric may be applied to the palm for easy grip.

FABRIC REQUIRMENTS

All fabrics are 150cm (60") wide. Amounts in Metres (Imperial in brackets). This pattern is ideal for using up those scraps of leftover fabric that are just "too big" to throw away.

NOTES:

This pattern is generously sized, so some reduction may be required for smaller hands.

The seam allowance is 6 mm (1/4") ... but to alter the size of your mitts while sewing, just change the seam allowance used. If you use a larger seam allowance, trim seams after sewing to reduce bulk.
