#505 - Court Jester Hat

A Fun way to wear a hat that is incredibly warm and comfortable. This pattern contains sizes from Child to Adult. Ideal for snowboarding, skiing, working and just playing out in the cold!

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THIS PATTERN:

Tape pattern pieces together as marked before cutting anything.

PATTERN PIECES DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCE. Add the seam allowance that you desire when you trace off the pattern or when you cut it out..

SUGGESTED MATERIALS

Polartec 200 or 300, or Polartec with Lycra.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

All fabrics are 150cm (60") wide.

FAMILY SIZING

SIZE HEAD MEASURE

Small - child to toddler Roughly 50cm (20")

Medium - youth and average adult Roughly 56cm (22")

Large - larger headed adults Roughly 61cm (24")

Sizing is approximate because fleece stretches so much. The hat can be reduced up to 25mm (1") simply by easing the hat body into the headband.

FLEECE NOTES

Good quality fleece does not need pre-shrinking. If you got yours from the bargain bin, pre-shrink it to be on the safe side. Wash in warm water and hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat.

When gently pulled on the selvedge, the fleece will curl to the right side (or Best side) on Polartec fleece and will not shrink or pill (other versions of fleece do not necessarily follow this rule).

Use a longer stitch than you normally would do (approximately 7 stitches to the inch). It makes it easier to pick out any if you have to,

Use 100% polyester thread. Don't get too caught up in matching the thread colours - it gets lost in the pile when you sew.
