Reminiscent of those great hats worn by the Canadian Olympic team in Japan, this hat is great for all ages. Worn forwards or backwards, it’s just plain fun!

SUGGESTED MATERIALS

Polartec 100, 200 or 300.

FABRIC REQUIRED

All fabrics are 150cm (60") wide

All sizes require 0.3m (3/8y) of fleece of a high quality non-pilling fleece. It is very important that the hat be cut out on the lengthwise grain of the fabric. This minimizes the amount of stretch or ease around the head.

NOTIONS

• 1 poor boy brim or piece of heavy duty plastic 30cm x 20cm (12"x 8")
• 0.75m (3/4y) of 4cm (1 1/2") wide nylon grosgrain ribbon

SEWING NOTES

For sewing your seams, you will achieve the best results using a zipper foot!

FAMILY SIZING

FLEECE NOTES

Good quality fleece does not need pre-shrinking. If you got yours from the bargain bin, pre-shrink it to be on the safe side. Wash in warm water and hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat.

When gently pulled on the selvedge, the fleece will curl to the Right side or Best side on Polartec® fleece and will not shrink or pill (other versions of fleece do not necessarily follow this rule).

Use 100% polyester thread. Don’t get too caught up in matching the thread colours — it gets lost in the pile when you sew.
